Company History
Though Krohman Audio was founded in 2007 by Houston Krohman, it is hardly a new company. Houston began on his journey into the realm of professional audio and production over 12 years ago. He started wiring systems and learning the basics of sound while still very young and in school. His first shows were in small auditoriums with tiny systems built by radioshack. As time progressed he amassed more knowlegde of acoustical theory, system design, troubleshooting, and equipment design. He made a name for himself on the Sunshine Coast, BC working as a technician mixing rock bands in small local halls.
Time passed and the shows got bigger and the soundsystems exponentially larger. He began to research the fundamentals of speaker design along with gaining an advanced understanding of soundsystem design and use. Up until 2004, Houston worked alone in his endeveurs, aside from apprenticing with some of BC and Alberta's top audio engineers and technicians.
In 2004, after promoting several successful events together, Houston founded the sound company E13 with his production partner Steve. The company began with a small 6,000 watt horn loaded system, but grew larger and larger as Houston designed and built more and more speakers. E13 became well known in the BC music scene scene for delivering amazing sound time after time. As the company grew, so did the shows they worked at. In 2006, a string of equipment damages and Steve moving away led half of the system to be retired. With increasing competiton from other sound companies and a speaker rental price war going on, it was not a good time to be in the audio rental business. After furthur slowing down in 2007 and increasing business costs, E13 closed it's doors.
As Houston had an outstanding reputation, he began to take on individual contracts that did not involve renting out his own equipment. He started working more and more as a consultant, stage manager, and technician for many events along with performing several large installations. Business began to line up for Houston and at the end of 2007 he founded Krohman Audio. Since then he has worked developing new promotional material including this website while working on several projects in the Vancouver area including The Lotus Sound Lounge, the Anza club, Open Studios and more.
